Cultural Agility: A Catalyst For Inclusion
In October 2024, I had the honor and privilege of being the Guest Speaker of ManpowerGroup for their Global Business Resources Group (BRG) 2024 Summit and talk about cultural agility.
The virtual Summit is a company-wide initiative that brought together over 300 employees and more to follow watching the recording across the world to advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and amplify the internal DEIB efforts of the organization.
As the Keynote Speaker, my topic was Cultural Agility: A Catalyst for Inclusion.
I shared real-life examples and personal and professional storytelling to explore our cultural differences with curious and inclusive lenses.
The session focused on the following:
- The complexity of culture and why cultural agility matters using the cultural iceberg model.
- The business case behind cultural diversity: how it positively impacts individuals, teams, organizations and society
- How to develop cultural agility and cultural humility: the software and the hardware
- An actionable toolkit to develop cultural agility with 7 specific behaviors: connect, unlearn, think different, listen, understand, reframe, educate
The toolkit was also handed to the employees so that they can implement it in future activities such as teambuilding exercises, DEIB initiatives and team discussions.
