Leadership: Celebrating Entrepreneurs & Entrepreneuses

The word entrepreneur

Many people are daunted by the word “entrepreneur”: it sounds intimidating and you might feel that you are required to have a business license, a solid business plan and everything laid out before calling yourself an entrepreneur.

Let’s look at the word:

Entrepreneur is actually a word borrowed from French with latin roots. It is literally the person who undertakes or initiates something.

Basically, you need to take that great idea and do something about it, take the very first step, whether it’s starting to develop and app, write the first page of a book or register a domain for your awesome future business. That’s it, one first step!

So that’s pretty cool, hey!

But there is more: French is actually my second language (after Spanish) and what many non French speakers might not know, is that there is also the feminine version of entrepreneur, which is Entrepreneuse.

So kudos out there to all the women out there creating stuff, putting their ideas to practice, taking the first step, registering a business, etc.

Kudos to all of us, Entrepreneuses!
