Workshop on Culture: Shaping 2026

In December 2025, I hosted a workshop for Minisport Hong Kong to refine their culture and values and bring them to life with specific actions and behaviours. To develop the session, I worked in close partnership with Minisport’s founder, Matthew Paterson, who is putting a strong focus on people development, leadership and role modeling as a key priority for the organization moving forward. As the organization is growing, the focus is on how to attract, retain, develop and promote the best talent from within.

The 2-hour session was customized for the team and focused on setting the foundation for a strong culture that brings people together and creates a winning team that leads from the front.

Through group discussion, the participants brainstormed on what makes a great culture and what they want Minisport to be known for. They shared their personal values and how they relate to the company values and discussed the strengths, challenges and opportunities to strengthen the culture at Minisport.

We split the audience into 4 groups and each of them presented their STOP – START – CONTINUE discussion back to the full group.

Some of the keywords and terms that came out helped shape the values Minisport will adopt moving forward:

S – Standards: We set and uphold high standards in the service we deliver, the way we conduct ourselves, and in health and safety—striving for excellence and acting with honesty in all that we do.

P – Positivity: We approach every challenge with optimism and a solution-focused mindset, creating an uplifting environment for our team and clients, and responding with empathy, especially during difficult conversations.

O – Openness: We communicate constructively and candidly, guided by facts and logic, always acting with the best interests of the team and our clients at heart, and ensuring clarity through prompt dialogue.

R – Role Modelling: We lead by example, inspiring not only the children and community we coach, but also each other—regardless of our role—through respect, integrity, and honest, empathetic engagement.

T – Teamwork: We collaborate, support one another, and treat each other with respect, recognising that our collective success depends on strong teamwork, cohesion, and inclusivity.

The outcome of the session will help the leadership refine their cultural framework for 2026 and beyond and design a 360 people development plan.
