Cultural Agility: Doing Business in China for Racing Cargo

Cultural Agility: Mindset, Culture and Business in China

In August 2025, I hosted an in-person session on cultural agility for Racing Cargo, a Mexican company with a growing presence in Asia.

Racing Cargo is a global logistics operator with headquarters in Mexico. As their business expands rapidly worldwide, they wanted to hold a session on cultural agility in Hong Kong for their senior leadership team, focusing on how to do business in China.

We talked about the mindset, culture and traditions in China, with a focus on the importance of relationships (guanxi 关系), long-term thinking and strategy, and the value of respect and hierarchy in the workplace.

Racing Cargo has a local office and team in Hong Kong and a growing business in China. Cultural agility is key to managing the relationships with their teams, clients, carriers, and partners.

We covered best practices to lead, communicate, give feedback and manage difficult conversations with specific examples and strategies they can adapt to succeed in the Chinese market. The session was practical and interactive and we discussed scenarios that are relevant to their industry and day-to-day work.
