Cultural Agility: A Virtual Keynote for the UK Government
On 31 July, I delivered a 1-hour webinar to the UK Cabinet. The session was on cultural agility and how to turn it into your competitive advantage in the workplace.
Topics covered:
- Unconscious bias: why it happens and how to mitigate it with self-awareness. I focused specifically on cultural bias, affinity bias and halo/horn bias.
- Cultural Mapping: how to use the methodology of cultural mapping to understand how our culture influences the way we lead, make decisions, communicate and give feedback.
- Cultural agility toolkit: I shared the framework I created using the word CULTURE to develop cultural agility:
C – Connect
U – Unlearn
L – Listen actively
T – Think different
U – Understand
R – Reframe
E – Educate
The webinar included Zoom polls to keep it engaging and ended with a Q&A to give the participants a chance to share and ask questions.
The session was organized by Powered by Diversity, a UK organization that offers DEI workshops and services to organizations.
