Cultural Agility: Your Competitive Advantage In The Workplace

May 21st is the World Day Of Cultural Diversity. To celebrate the occasion, I partnered with the UK organization Powered By Diversity to deliver a Keynote on cultural agility to their members.

The presentation focused on the crucial role cultural agility plays in the workplace, driving employee engagement, teamwork, innovation, and performance.

✔️ Racially diverse teams report a 35% increase in performance compared to their competitors.

✔️ 85% of companies with inclusion practices generated 30%+ in revenue.

✔️ Diverse teams make better decisions up to 87% of the time.

Cultural diversity is a catalyst for teamwork, innovation and performance.

However, it requires an open mindset and cultural agility.

In the session, I talked about:

📍 Unconscious bias and specific biases relevant to cultural diversity (cultural bias, stereotypes, affinity bias)

📍 Cultural mapping: personal stories and cultural failures from working in 20+ countries to explain how our culture shapes the way we lead, communicate, give feedback, make decisions and more.

📍 A cultural toolkit to develop cultural agility: my own methodology to drive cultural inclusion in the workplace and beyond.

The session had a total of 63 participants joining from different organizations.

If you would like to discuss customized workshops or keynotes related to inclusion and growth mindset, please get in touch.

About Powered by Diversity: financially accessible equity, diversity and inclusion.

From the audience: “Veronica’s talk on cultural agility was both informative and engaging. Our audience participated enthusiastically in the discussions, finding the session eye-opening and highly beneficial. The incorporation of a toolkit for the audience to take away and use in assessing and improving their own cultural agility was particularly helpful. Veronica’s unique lived experience makes her an exceptional guest speaker on this topic, and I truly hope to work with her again in the future.” Amy McDermid, Head of FoundYourTalent.
